There is another method to display a PIP at any time

In the Timelines list panel, create another timeline and name it PiP.

Go back to the First Show timeline, select the PiP layer and cut (CTRL + X) / paste (CTRL + V) it in the PiP timeline.

The PIP can now be launched at any time over First Show timeline, completely independently.

In the previous method, the PiP was cued at a precise point in the timeline and could not be launched at another moment without editing the timeline.

Adding commands

We’ll add a few commands to make it really standalone.

Add a command before the beginning of the fade-out on the PiP layer.

Add a command at the end of the PiP layer.

This will make the header go back to timecode 00:00:00:00 on the PiP timeline.

Set the header back to timecode 00:00:00:00.

Conclusion

With this method we can play the PiP timeline multiple times whenever we want over the First Show timeline.

This method also solves the problem of the audio being paused while waiting for the PiP’s cue as the PiP timeline is now read independently over the main show’s timeline.

Be careful to set the timecode back to 00:00:00:00 on these “overlay” timelines as if it is located after the Stop command it will just keep running and not reset properly.
