We will now project another media on the background behind the cube using the same projector.

To achieve this we’ll create a fourth X-Map which we’ll set behind the three other X-Maps.
We’ll need to display one media for the 3 shapes and another media for the background.

Adding the X-Map

In the Render Surface panel, increase the Render Surface from 1920×1080 to 3840×1080.

Drag & drop the media Light Rain 1 for the background and change it’s X position value to 1920. Set it to Loop and Freerun.

In the V-Nodes tab add a new X-Map of 1920×1080 and set the MAP X value to 1920, Y remains 0.

Observe in the Warp panel how the different X-Maps map out different parts of the render surface.

Set the Curve type to Keystone on this X-Map and warp it into position in the back of the mapping cube.

Warping an X-Map lets you freely reshape the content being mapped.
Observe how fitting the background image to the full width of mapping box has probably broken it’s 16×9 ratio.

Using separate timelines

In order to show/hide the content for the Cube and the Background independently, we’ll create a timeline for each.

Add a second timeline in the Timeline list panel.

Rename Timeline 1 to Cube and Timeline 2 to Background.

Cube Timeline

In the Cube timeline, add the following media with 2 seconds of fade in between each layers.

Set all three media to Loop and Freerun.

Insert a command layer and add two Pause cues at each fade in.

STEP TRIGGER FILENAME PLAYING MODE
1 Cue Cube Colors Loop
2 Cue Cube Outline Loop Loop
3 Cue Cube Sparkle Loop Loop
4 Cue Black Once

Background Timeline

In the Background timeline, add the following media with 2 seconds of fade in between each layers.

Set all media to Loop and Freerun.

Set all media to position X: 1920.

STEP TRIGGER FILENAME PLAYING MODE
1 Cue Light Rain 1 Loop
2 Cue Light Rain 2 Loop
3 Cue Space Once
4 Follow Blue Lines Loop

Insert a command layer and add Pause cues at each fade in.

Step 3 to step 4 should follow the end of the media on step 3. Do not put a Pause in the command layer for this transition.

Set a Pause command over the Blue Lines layer to keep it on screen before fading out.
